Eligibility and Entrance Guidelines

Eligibility
The Utica Academy for International Studies has 125 available seats for incoming 9th grade students.

Grade 8 students must be enrolled in UCS Math 8, Algebra I or a higher class to apply to the program.  Students must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher as reported on their Middle School or Junior High School transcripts. 

Additional Requirements
Students must submit recommendation forms (located in the application) for required subject area teachers to fulfill application requirements.  Students must submit information on co-curricular and extra-curricular involvement and academic awards and accolades.  Students must also complete a writing and mathematics assessment at one of the three dates to be determined in your application.  The dates are:

All student information will be entered into an assessment device that will generate a point total based on all application materials.  A minimum point total will be determined by the application committee.  All students who meet or exceed that minimum point total will be placed in a lottery to determine seat selection.
