Eligibility and Entrance Guidelines

Eligibility
The Utica Academy for International Studies has 100 available seats for incoming 9th grade students.

Grade 8 students must be enrolled in UCS Math 8, Algebra I or a higher class to apply to the program.  Students cannot be enrolled in Algebraic Thinking math.  Students must have maintained a cumulative GPA during their 7th and 8th grade years of 3.0 or higher as reported on their Middle School or Junior High School transcripts. 

Additional Requirements
Students must complete the application found here.  Students must also complete a writing and mathematics assessment at one of the three dates to be determined in your application.  The dates are:

Testing Information
All students should be at the testing site fifteen minutes prior to the beginning of the exams.  Students should bring pencils, erasers, and may bring water and a snack for in between the two parts of the test.  The subjects are:




All student information will be entered into an assessment device that will generate a point total based on all application materials.  A minimum point total will be determined by the application committee.  All students who meet or exceed that minimum point total will be placed in a lottery to determine seat selection.
