By nature we are all designers. We paint the world by just living out our days. Each one of us uniquely creates a palette of expression through the way we live, what we wear, how we act and how we feel. Through the creative process the brain is activated to visually produce new ideas, solve problems and initiate change. The creative process in art class is unique to all academic subjects because it requires not only artistic skills and concentration but also emotion and the ability for the student to reach beyond what is not yet discovered within them. As a person who sought to become an artist and teacher at a very young age, I have found that it is not talent nor mastered skills that produce greatness but the inspiration of original thought and the willingness to produce and achieve something not yet known.
