Mrs. Kristy Newell
UAIS Counselor
Kristy.Newell@uticak12.org

I consider it a privilege to serve the students, parents and staff of the Utica Academy for International Studies as counselor.  It is my goal to create a dynamic and responsive counseling environment that supports the social, emotional and intellectual development of students and encourages them to realize their full potential.  After attending Browning Elementary, Bemis Junior High School and Henry Ford II High School, I returned to teach Japanese and English at Henry Ford II High School in 1997, with the dream of helping my students access the type of world-class opportunities I thrived upon as a UCS student.  Since becoming a high school counselor in 2001, I have come to realize that the highlight of my professional life is the chance to get to know students and families well as I help to facilitate student growth and goal achievement.  As the UAIS counselor, it is truly an honor to interact with so many who share my commitment to rigorous education and passion for intercultural understanding.
