From The Principal

Greetings UAIS families!

We've had a very smooth start to the 2020-2021 school year. Even though we are in a unique learning environment, I am excited to see how our students and staff have embraced the challenges and truly turned them in to opportunities to grow.

Please be sure to see our UPDATED Block Schedule Rotation for the Rest of Quarter 1 and Adjusted Schedules for October 7-8, 2020.

Due to Count Day on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, we will run a modified schedule. This means ALL classes, A Day and B Day, will run for a shortened class period. Thursday, October 8, 2020, is a half-day of school and we will run an adjusted B day schedule with 41-42minute classes and 5minute breaks between each class. Please refer to schedule that I sent out.  Please be sure to keep this handy and remind your student of the adjusted schedules.

PSAT:Attention Freshmen and Sophomores!

PSAT testing is scheduled to take place at UAIS October 20, 2020 (9thgrade) and October 29, 2020 (10thgrade). Please note, each grade level will be offered the test on the assigned date and there is no alternate or make-up testing date scheduled for this test. Please be sure to sign-up by completing the Test Registration form by Thursday, October 1, 2020 if you plan to take this assessment.  All students and staff are required to wear a mask the entire time.  Be sure to bring a calculator, pencil, school ID or pictured ID and a sealed bottle of water on the day of the test.  More specific details regarding the test sessions will be provided in the coming weeks.

We realize that many or our students are still unable to access PowerSchool due to login or password concerns.  Please be patient.  We are working with the IT department to have this issue resolved as soon as possible.  It will not impact students’ ability to complete their work or earn grades.

Students will be marked absent if they are not logged in for their classes.  Please call the office if your child is absent class due to illness, appointments, etc.  Attendance will be taken every day, during every block, as if students were attending school in person.  Grades will be assigned for students’ work throughout the remote and virtual learning phase. Students will engage in synchronous (live) and asynchronous (independent/on your own) activities.   Please encourage your child to be an active participant in all lessons and activities.

Please take the time to view the following videos to help ensure a smooth transition to the 2020-2021 school year.

I look forward to working with you and your family as we tackle a very unique learning experience for our students, teachers and support staff.

We appreciate your patience and continued support!

All the best!
